Fisker (FSR) is working at full speed to secure a site and land supplier contracts through Foxconn.
If all goes as planned, the people who make Apple’s iPhone will soon be building an electric automobile in the United States. Fisker and its partner Foxconn announced on Thursday that manufacture of their Project PEAR electric car will be moved to the United States. The announcement comes after we first learnt about Fisker and Foxconn collaborating on Project PEAR in February, however we still have no idea what type of car it will be.
The objective is to bring the automobile to market for less than $30,000 before any tax credits or incentives are applied. If the two follow their word, we might be talking about a cheap EV. It will also ride on a platform codenamed “FP28” by Foxconn.
The vehicle’s production is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023, so we’re still a long way from seeing Project PEAR come to fruition. However, Fisker stated that manufacturing lines at Magna Steyr will begin producing its first EV, the Ocean SUV, in the fourth quarter of next year.
